Part of a larger composition entitled Glances From A Window (unfinished).
The Moulds is the work of Professor Dennis Patrick of the University of Toronto's Electro-Acoustic Music Dept.
with whom I have had a collaboration over the last 25 years
composing on and off. Our first pieces In Parenthesis and Wintertins were composed
circa 1980
and have played at the Pompidou Centre in Paris
and on radio in Denmark and several other countries.
Electronic music is a specialized art form,
it is something I enjoy
having been influenced in my youth
by the German composer Stockhausen.
"The Moulds" is a rarefied piece
with minimal musical alteration of voice and instrument,
very stark and mostly text modulated
and altered voice by me, Nick Mancuso.
Having recently played in Zagreb, its theme,
that of unimplemented unraveled enslavement
in relationship to certain odd events
occurring in the world just before 9/11.
My feelings were that something
was leading "us" to a sense of a progressive Universe
aggressively running out of control.
